Detail: A major retrospective of a visionary post-war modernist.
The first major museum retrospective of Anwar Jalal Shemza (1928-1985) in over 30 years celebrates one of the most original voices of post-war modernism.
Featuring more than 80 works, the exhibition traces Shemza's remarkable career across painting, printmaking, textiles, sketchbooks and archival material. His distinctive visual language merged geometric abstraction, references to Urdu script and influences drawn from both Lahore and Britain.
