Name seals

Hallmarks carved on name seals, known as “chops” to the Chinese and hanko to Japanese, act as legal signatures for individuals and companies. In the Far East, especially Japan, a large proportion of all ivory consumed is used for seals. In Thailand East Asians are the main buyers of blank seals.
