In this hunting composition several deer and drong are visible, as well as two mounted figures, at least one of which is armed with a bow. The large figure at the bottom of the image is the head and horns of another drong. The bluish color of this stone surface is due to a coating of 'desert varnish' (an oxalate skin) that has formed on the sandstone formation over millennia. Pre-Buddhist or early Buddhist period. |
