Rishis, the "seers" of ancient India, were the progenitors
of the Tantric lineages that flourished in Tibet after the 7th centruy.
Bearded and long haired and dressed in animal pelts or loose wraps,
these adepts of the Tantric path represent a liberated state beyond
social norms and unencumbered by material possessions. Several of the
figures are wearing meditation belts across their shoulders.
