Re: butterfly ginger jar |

Message The characters read downward from the right in Chinese Mandarin as 'Yi Qian Tang Long Nian Zhi' (義謙堂龍年製 - Made in the year of the Dragon for the Hall of Righteous Modesty). As a hall name, this mark has a very Confucian ring to it. As far as I know, the shop that made your jar has been operating in Hong Kong since at least the fourth quarter of the 20th century, decorating blanks made elsewhere in China. If you'll use the forum search feature to query Yi Qian Tang, you'll come up with past discussions of other products made by them. Best regards, Bill H. Post a Response |
