Japanese Imari Dragon Plate |
Posted By: Saturdai Posted Date: Aug 08, 2007 (04:16 PM) |
Message I have a plate I've been trying to research rather unsuccessfully. I know nothing about asian porcelain other then what I've learned while researching this plate. It's absolutely beautiful as you can see in the images. I understand that this type of work (blue underglaze with colorful overglaze) is referred to as 'Imari'. I'm fairly sure it is Japanese, not Chinese. And that is about all I know. Is there anyone that knows more about dating something like this? Or that can tell me more about when or where it would have been made? The more I do learn about it, the more I love it. And the art work on it is divine. I've included three images with this post and will post a follow up with a fourth image. peace & thanks, Saturdai |
