Australian Robert Powell now lives in Kathmandu, Nepal, where he has settled after wide-ranging Asian travels that have taken him throughout South Asia. His precisely rendered, haunting still-lifes of the cultural environment of Nepal, Japan and Northern Pakistan have won him a following of devoted collectors and supporters. His most recent exhibit was at the inaugural exhibition of the new Patan Museum in the Kathmandu Valley, December 1995.
" In delicate drawings and paintings Powell has recorded not only ancient murals and the exquisite woodcarvings of the temples and monasteries, but has unerringly captured the whimsy of daily life." (from Mustang: An Exhibition of Paintings and Photographs in Nepal by Mary Slusser in Asian Arts).
