I recently inherited two Chinese plates my father purchased from an antiques store in Japan in the early 1960's. For years I assumed they were mass-produced and identical. Closer inspection, though, shows they are of the same design but were hand-painted and differ quite a bit in many ways. They are about 21" in diameter. I would be interested in opinions as to their age, origin, original function if truly old, and whether they have value. Thank you so much.
