Message This is a classic stoneware utility storage jar, could have been used for dry ingredients (grain, flour) or for one of many types of pickles, or whatever. A well-used household item can show much wear and discoloration and seem much older than it is, compared with 'vase' or other decorative pot. Yours could have been made in China, either north or southwest. Would guess around the first half 20th century. Sawankhalok clays fired brown due to high iron content.
