Message Indeed from Bali, but I would date it no earlier than 1960s. The subject is related to Hanuman but perhaps not Hanuman. There are two naga (dragon/snake like figures), so perhaps it has something to do with the characters Subali and Sugriwa (who are Hanuman's uncles). They were royalty whose appearance turned into ape-like figures because they plunged into a river that they were forbidden to enter. The story is popular in Bali. Post a Response |
