The title and inscription was added later to to the
picture.
Title in clerical script style reads,
柳陰洗馬圖 - Picture of Washing Horse Under the Shade of Willow(s)
-This theme has been favored by Far Eastern artists since ancient times-

The lengthy text is written seal scrypt style. It refers to the painter of the picture. His name was Li Danlou 李丹樓。Learned painting and poetry in Jining (Shandong). Later he served as official some 20 years in Jiansing County (Zhejiang) - where he painted this work which was inherited by his maternal nephew's grandson.

Colophon reads,
時甲子始冬黄人大佛言書烏宣用閣寓
In the Beginning of Winter in the Year of Wood-Rat
(...1864,1924,1988) at the Wuxuan Reading Pavilion of Yellow Great Buddha
Seal,
言囗 - Yan囗
(I can'tread the 2nd character)

I wonder if there is a signature on the picture itself.

With regards,
I.Nagy
