hi, can anyone please shed more light than i have been able on this satsuma coffee set please?

it is perhaps the shimazu family crest from the 20th C. the thing that has thrown me is that i can find no refrence anywhere to a completely matte black finish like found on this set. the general colour is ivory where un finished.

it is nice to see the set in its original silk lined presentation box. it was given to us by my in laws who did not want the set anymore, having inherited it from one of their parents who possibly brought it with them when they fled poland in 1939.
