Message With bold, lush and painterly strokes, artist Kenji Inoue creates abstract paintings that go beyond mere color experimentation. Inoue’s canvases incorporate negative space as a subject in his work; the white space surrounding his vivid colors allows the viewer a peek into the process of creation. The viewer can see the canvas underneath the masterfully painted colors, and the effect is like seeing a face behind a mask, a bone beneath flesh. The awareness that Inoue grants his viewers is inspiring; when the viewer can participate in the process of art-making, the end result is that much more meaningful. Kenji Inoue studied painting and illustration at the Tokyo Communications and Arts Professional School for two years. He currently lives and works in Japan. Exhibition Dates: June 1 to June 21 Gallery Location: Agora Gallery, 530 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York. Gallery hours: Tues-Sat 11- 6. Opening Reception: June 7th, 6-8 PM.
