Message The "Fujian Association" at Jingdezhen coalesced around a porcelain carver Named You Changzi (游長子) in the early 20th century. I've included below a link to a relevant page at gotheborg.com, as well as a somewhat abbreviated and paraphrased translation of information on You Changzi from the Chinese-language web archive of markings and other porcelain data, chinabogu.com. You Changzi (游長子), style name Zechang (澤長), was born in 1874 and died in 1922. He was a native of Fuhouguan County, Fuzhou Municipality, Fujian Province. With a group of fellow teachers who were porcelain-carving traditionalists, he was sent to Linchuan in Jiangxi Province during the late Qing period as an instructor in the making of Buddhist images. After the Xinhai Revolution of 1911, You and others moved permanently to Jingdezhen, where they became the "Fujian Association" (福建會錧), using their own stamp of "Jingdezhen Fujian Association" (景德鎮福建會錧). Other porcelain carvers of the association, Zeng Longsheng (曾龍升), Cai Jintai (蔡金台), Lin Youyu (林育玉), Cao Wenzu (曹文祖) and their descendants owe eternal thanks to this Master. Best regards, Bill H.
