Message Dear Gary I think it is a 20th century South India ox/cow bone inlay wood. Possibly a sedan to support Hidu god statue for street parade on the ceremonial day. There must be 4 men to carry this board on their shoulders with 2 woodden bars. The empty square space in the middle is for the Statue stand to fit in, and the "L" shape woods at the four corners are for white robe and/or cotton white cloth to tie up the statue base with the board. Anything on the back of the board? Have fun Anita Mui P.S. sorry I can not find the picture of sedan from Indai to match my claim, but this picture from Italy is as possibly as the same function of your board. |
