Message Bowenite, a type of serpentine, can also pass the scratch test and has a hardness of >5. Hardness picks come with points with hardness at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. Sometimes it is very hard to perform the hardness test correctly due to slippery surface. Carvings made of quartz, agate, jasper can also pass 5 and 6 hardness points. In my opinion, these two pieces posted here are not made of BC nephrite jades and the cong may not be made modern although not archaic. B Post a Response |
