Subject:Chinese Cash Coin Art

Hello!

I haven't seen, or been able to find, another piece of Chinese art similar. The wall hanging armature is completely made of Chinese cash coins. The gilt head is wood and the costume appears to be made from gilt leather or something similar. I suspect it was made specifically for export, though I may be wrong, but the person is the most interesting part. The long fingers and ornamentation indicate, to me, that she is a royal figure. Does anyone know who she might be or have you ever seen another cash figure such as this? Were they simply for export or is there any deeper significance to the art? The piece is a little over 21 inches long.

Okay, this is one of those things that I completely over thought. Instead of calling it a Chinese coin figure I kept calling it a Chinese cash coin figure and nothing popped up. Even though I have never seen one before they are very common. Apparently, a lot of them were made in Bali.
