I've previously seen this type of festive Chinese spoon with the iron red and gilt "cracked ice" ground and neatly painted figure of a "beauty", though I don't actually have any in my collection. However, I believe they're probably fairly contemporary with this ginger jar of mine with the same ground in a dragon & phoenix "wedding" motif. I'm pretty sure it dates from around the second through early third quarter of the 20th century. Even though they don't bear export marking in English, a lot of these pieces were made for sale domestically to local restaurants in China, and at the time they were made, sets of dishes often were exported with paper labels or without labeling in marked crates.

Best regards,

Bill H.

After re-reading my comment, I realize it may be misleading. My observation about the lack of labeling should have applied to your spoon only. The ginger jar actually does have a mark on its base of "Zhen Shi Ci She" (鎮食瓷社), possibly translatable in context as "Jingdezhen Porcelain Dinnerware Commune" or as "Municipal Porcelain Dinnerware Cooperative". So sometimes even with a marking other than in English, a 20th century dating is applicable due to the use of other labeling procedures at the time. Another image herewith.
