Subject:Chinese bronze censer Mark Ming??

Hi, Can anyone please confirm the maker and date of the following bronze Censer currently for auction on Ebay.

The mark says 'Made during the Zhengde Reign' (Zhengde nian zhi - 正德年製), the Ming dynastic period from 1506-21). I took a moment to scan eBay listings for bronze censers and soon found one selling in the UK (see the link below for pasting into your browser). It is identical to the one you show here but doesn't appear to include the same photos and possibly has more signs of wear. I would urge caution, inasmuch as Chinese fakes tend to come in multiple issues with minor variations in appearance meant to perpetuate their market life. Another point of caution is to avoid purchasing such apparent ancient and valuable antiques from dealers selling out of China, because Chinese patrimonial laws preclude export in most cases.

If you're talking about the date of the Zhengde reign, most Chinese dynastic reigns are historic fact and their periods are known with great precision. If you thought I was saying the censer dates to that time, that is incorrect. If there are two copies of the same censer on eBay, then they are almost certainly contemporary reproductions.
