This is the impressed logo of the Seiji Kaisha (Pure water company) founded in 1879 by 4 former Koransha members together with the Tokyo potter Kawahara Chujiro.

This Seiji Kaisha must not to be confused with the Fukagawa Seiji Company of Chuji Fukagawa, founded in the same year 1879.

Seiji Kaisha closed in 1897. But even after 1897 the impressed mark on blanks still may have lingered for several years. Seiji Kaisha marks on porcelain occurs at least as late as 1905, in which year the factory was destroyed by heavy storm damage.

Regards,
Martin.

Your plate has a mark of the Seiji Kaisha company, which was a joint venture involving the Fukagawa family that was in production during the late 19th-early 20th century. The gotheborg.com website has further information under its Fukagawa heading, in the Japanese marks section.

Best regards,

Bill H.
