The paper in the scroll is very old, as was done in the 19th century, early 20th

Corrigenda,
Next morning with fresh eyes and mind I realized that I was wrong with the reading
Correct reading of the artist's name:
愛新覺羅 溥宇 - Aishin Gioro Puyu
Upper seal(with the brush stroke),
愛新覺羅 - Aishin Gioro
Lower seal,
溥宇 - Puyu
The date is 2004

Aishin Gioro (Aixinjueluo) Puyu 1951
Descendant of the royal family. In 1970 he was admitted to the Central Academy of Fine Arts, was taught by Zhu Lesan and Pan Tianshou. He specialzes in flower and bird, orchid and bamboo painting. He is a member of Beijing Xiangshan Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. His works have high collection value.

Dear Scarabei,

(Aisin Gioro) Puyi 溥儀 - the last Emperor of China - was who passed away in 1967
Our painter is Puyu 溥宇 - The last character is different.
Just for your information, some 16 members of the Aisin royal clan used the Pu... 溥.... name.
Among them Puru 溥儒 1896-1963 was a reputed painter.

I.Nagy

Dear Scarabei,

Thank you for the new excellent clear pictures on the seals. These confirm the correctness of my readings.

愛新覺羅 - Aisin Gioro
溥宇 - Puyu
The 3.rd seal reads from left to right (According to the characters handwritten above it)
墨友 Ink-friend

As far as the paper texture is concerned, no far reaching conclusions can be drawn from it. For example in the Liulichang area in Beijing there are special shops selling 40-50, even 100 years old papers by sheets or by reams. Simply, Puyu only painted this picture on a sheet of older patinated paper.

With regards,
I.Nagy
