Posted By: GerryG Fri, Oct 23, 2020 Hi MB, as I see no-one else has given you an answer, I'll try and give you my tuppence worth. On the face of it your vases do look like Kangxi period famille verte portraying scenes from the Romance of the Western Chamber although there are several elements that would show them to be not Kangxi but probably early to mid 20th century. First off for me the painting style is way too stiff and has no sense of flow. The foot rim is wrong and too dirty and not white enough to be kangxi. Also I think the glaze on the base is too white and opaque. Whist some of the enamels look "ok" others do not fit in with a Kangxi famille verte palette. One a the few tests you can do with Kangxi period famille verte porcelain is hold the piece up to the light and view the over glaze blue at reasonably acute angle and sometimes (not always) you will see evidence of iridescence sometimes called the halo effects which is very hard to duplicate in modern copies. Hopefully this information is of some help and may also elicit a response from others more scholarly in the subject of famille verte porcelain. |
