Subject:Blue white central medallion dish blue base mark
Posted By: Vicky Mon, Sep 14, 2020 IP: 2a02:c7d:da5e:300:c4

Any ideas about the origin and age of this dish? It is is quite dense and heavy, with a few firing flaws.

Hi Vicky,
Your dish is unusual by way of its look.
It bears a Qianlong mark 1736-1796 on the base but I believe it's a product of the later 20th century.
It's beautifully painted and is trying to resemble a republican period (1912-1949) made example. One clue is that you mention its weight.

Thank you Mark. Really useful information. I was confused about which period it was made as the style and weight seemed contrasting in trying to figure it out. Much appreciated.
