Subject:Help to identify this possibly Japanese teapot set of blue and white porcelain
Posted By: Anne Wed, Sep 09, 2020 IP: 1.53.8.4

By the style and theme it looks Japanese, the shape looks like the sets that are made for export to the US. but I still cannot make a guess with its correct age and origin

大日本 - Dai-Nihon - Greater Japan
野口製 - Noguchi-sei - Noguchi Made

Taisho period (1912-1926) export ware.

With regards,
I.Nagy

The mark reads: Dai 大 Nippon 日本 Noguchi 野口 Sei 製 (Great Japan - Made by Noguchi).
Date: Late Meiji Period (1890-1910).
Blue Kutani ware, indeed made for export.

Noguchi (family name) might be Noguchi Seiziro from Ishikawa Ken (prefecture), Enuma Gun (district), one of the names on the list of potters from Ishikawa Prefecture & Yokohama of the World Fair 1889 in Paris.

Regards,
Martin.
