Subject:Gilt QIANLONG mark coral ground dragon bowl

I don't know exactly what to ask about this bowl. It seems unlikely to be of the period but I am having trouble finding anything that has either a similar shape or gilt QIANLING mark. Any thoughts you have would be welcome.

I agree your bowl probably is a fairly new production, as the gilt is somewhat drab and the curlicue eyes instead of round dots give the dragon an untraditional appearance.

Here is an image of one of my pair of mid-20th century six-inch high Ginger jars with gilt-highlighted dragons and phoenixes on a coral ground with gilt "cracked ice' pattern. As is normal for that period, the gilt is brassier and the coral color more orange than your bowl. FYI, the image is PhotoShopped with overlays to show more reflected sheen from the gilt than my Cheap Charley photo setup can produce with its two daylight bulbs in one shot.

Hi Bill, thanks so much for the information and for the images of your jar. I was recently advised that it likely to have been made around the 1950s? Do you think that unlikely? My images were taken in the evening under a low light so are duller than in a natural light, so the orange and gold are brighter than in the images. Your thoughts would be welcome.

If anything, it probably would have been made circa the late 1970 or subsequently, after China got over the turmoil of the third and early 4th quarters of the 20th century.
