Subject:Curious antique Japanese stoneware pots (bento?) inscribed help please

Hi,

I have this curious stoneware pots. I think that they're probably military? I assumed that they were used for dining, perhaps during the Second World War?

The red one has quite a long text on the side but is completely hollow inside.

The blue has two compartments inside and I'm guessing was some sort of a bento box. The characters are repeated all the way round on all three compartments.

Anybody able to give me any pointers for what they were used for? It would be much appreciated.

Many thanks for your help.

It answers my question as to why there was a red outline around the rim of the lid. I guess it's where the seal used to be.
