Subject:Japanese drawing with writings
Posted By: Tony Sun, Jul 26, 2020 IP: 23.243.126.110

Dear friends,
It is a thin piece of paper with drawing and writings in Japanese (?).
It is to much to ask, and I wish to simply know the general meaning of this piece (advertising, artistic, ... purpose)
I greatly appreciate your time and kind help πŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸ™
Best,
Tony

In addition to the information that Yura provided, your Japanese print is of the Actors Sawamura Tanosuke III as Komachi and Sawamura TosshΓ΄ II as Narihira, from the series Comparisons of Lovers, a Collection of Ballads (Koi awase, hauta-zukushi). The Boston MFA has a copy here:

Cheers,
Stan
