This is a print of Xu Beihong's known horse painting.

Inscriptions,
水艸尋常行處有 相期效死的長征
卅一年 歳閑
徐悲鴻貴陽客中
Water and grass are common everywhere
and all want to die in the long march
31st Year of ROC (1942)
Xu Beihong as Guest in Guiyang

"Three Horses Painted in Guiyan" is the official title of this painting (在貴陽絵制三馬圖)

With regards,
I.Nagy

Hi thanks, I Nagy. But how do you know it's a print ? It looks like a painting? I can't see tiny dots like with prints.

Dear Helmina,

If it were original it would be worth of a small fortune.
It is the wonder of the so called woodblock watercolor print skill and mounting technique - has been practiced in China since the 1960s.
It is a famous story about Qi Baishi the famous painter, who couldn't say which was his original and which was the duplicate.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thanks Nagy, that is interesting. I don't know much about wood block prints. Does the paint still rub off?
