Subject:Small metal statue of the Buddha

Dear friends,
It is a small (5") statue of the Buddha with fine details. It looks rusty, but there are shiny areas (tip of the nose, back of the head, the upper rim of the sitting base, ...) where the surfaces were scratched unintentionally, as seen in the pictures. I did gave it a good wash to remove some of the dust/mud.
I love its look and would like to learn more about it (culture - period - material -....). It might also be obviously some of our friend here that it can be a product of modern time :)

I've found when dust/mud can not be easily removed that is because it was deliberately applied to a new piece to make it look old. Caution is advised.

Thank you so very much for your time and valuable advice, considering there are so many "faked" items out there!
I was told that it was cast-iron, and it does looks rusty on the surface! I was surprised to find copper/brass-like shinny color underneath some scratched areas, after the dust/mud was washed off :)
