點々樓前細雨 重々江外平湖
當年戯馬會東徐 今日淒涼南浦
莫恨黄花末吐 且教紅粉相扶
酒閙不必看茉藇 伏仰人間今古
The light rain is spotting in front of the tower
and the lake outside of the river is heavy and flat
In this year the horse event is hold in Dongxu,
today I am alone and sad in Nanpu
I do not regret the yellow flowers (chrysanthemums) for not exposing fragrance,
it is better to lean on a woman beside me
Simply I indulge in drinking the wine, no need to look up at the dogwood,
old and new things are passing in an instant
The above text is a citation from a poem by the Song dynasty poet Su Shi a.k.a. Dongpo
From this somewhat longer text I got used to to the calligrapher's "sloppy" style, so I have to correct my previous reading and translation of the last two characters at the end of the colophon,
The new reading is;
書刻實記 - Real calligraphy ( not Calligraphy Constitution)
With regards,
