Subject:Auction house related questions
Posted By: T Thu, May 28, 2020 IP: 23.243.126.110

Dear forum moderator,
I have sincere and serious questions regarding auctioning artworks. I have no clue about the process and thought there is no better places or people to ask for opinion than members of the forum who might have direct and relevant experience.
Please delete / do not post my message if the topic is not appropriate here . Thank you!!!

1-Of the auction houses, which all have similar policies, what factor(s) is/are to be considered as for which to choose? Also, which would you choose based on your knowledge / experience of the top leading two?
2-Does it matter or possible to choose where to have auction and the consequence on taxing of the auctioned income, if the item is in the US?

Thank you very much for your help !!!

I will chime in..

As I am just going through my very first auction house experience..

I initially picked the auction house based on how they replied to inquiries about a couple of pieces..

I also checked their past auctions. What kind of items have the sold. Did my items seem to fit into some future auction they will hold.

After a few emails and phone calls, it was an easy choice to go with the auction house.

They have friendly, and shown above average expertise and knowledge.

Like I said, my first experience. The auction is in July, wish me luck !
