Hi, Can anyone please read the marks on the back of these plates, they are both approx 7 inches diameter I'm not sure if they are Chinese or Japanese.

These are Japanese, besides the signature also recognizable by de Mount Fuji decoration.

The mark reads (in blue): Dai 大 Nippon 日本 Noguchi 野口 Zo 造 (Great Japan made by Noguchi) and in red: Taniguchi 谷口.

Noguchi (family name) might be Noguchi Seiziro from Ishikawa Ken (prefecture), Enuma Gun (district), one of the names on the list of potters from Ishikawa Prefecture & Yokohama of the World Fair 1889 in Paris. so that might give a date (1890-1900) to your plates.

Taniguchi might be Taniguchi Komakichi (1873-1925), who was also from the Enuma district. He ran the Taniguchi kiln throughout the late Meiji and Taisho Period. Or it might be Taniguchi Kichijiro 1st, who opened a store in Kanazawa for trading Kutani Yaki in 1875.

Regards,
Martin.
