The round mark (shown 90-degrees left of viewing position), reads down and across from the top right as 'Made by Du Weiqun' (Du wei qun zhi - 都衛群制). In the second picture, the larger mark reads down as 'Weichun', and the smaller one 'Du', same characters as above.

The link herein to Chinese-language auction information on one of his pots includes the following biographic data, which I've summarized in English below:

'Du Wequn

Master artist & craftsman, Outstanding Potter, Member of the Jiangsu Ceramics Association, Member of the China Municipal Ceramics Association.

Born in Pottery Capital of Yixing in 1972, he grew up in the atmosphere of purple sand art, and in 1992 first entered a purple sand factory to learn to make pots. Afterward he studied difficult traditional pot-making techniques, then matured in the craft under careful guidance of national-level master of arts and crafts Gu Shaopei and senior arts and crafts artist Xu Yuanming.'

Best regards,

Bill H.

I humbly yield to my guru I. Nagy again. Picked the wrong potter at Yixing, which must be suffering a shortage of given names. :)

Thank you for your responses. Have been searching about for information on Fan Weiqun (of which there is some). Apparently this pot belonged to my great-grandmother (I'm 40). Haven't really found anything similar but nevertheless will keep looking out of interest.

Thank you.
