Subject:Can someone help me identify the artist of this watercolor
Posted By: Cassie Thu, Mar 12, 2020 IP: 73.163.28.205

Hi all,
Can anyone help me identify the artist and possibly a time frame of when this may have been painted. It looks like it may be from the Qing Dynasty? Thanks again in advance for the help provided!

I can't vouch for the source and relevancy of information, but I found a Wikipedia.org page (link) with data indicating that Hong Wol-hun (machine-translated from 弘月軒) was an alias or possible studio mark used by a Korean painter of the late Joseon dynasty (1392-1897) named Kim Duk-sin (machine-translated from 金得臣), lived 1754-1822. I believe the forum's accomplished linguist I. Nagy may be able to help with needed Korean transliterations.

Essence of the Wiki text follows:

The site also has images of paintings, which IMHO look to be a lot more refined that the one shown here.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you so much Bill for the info provided. I did not realize the painting was Korean. I checked out the link for Korean painters that you provided and yes, the paintings are very refined. I hope I find more like them!
