Subject:Numbered Chinese Teapot help
Posted By: John Sat, Feb 29, 2020 IP: 2601:1c0:5c03:810:84 Was wondering the maker, origin and age of this teapot. It seems to be a limited addition number on it. Any info or help is appreciated. |

Posted By: John Mon, Mar 02, 2020 Thank you so much I. Nagy ! Is it possible that Guizhou is the Provence in China? I see the Tea museum is located there so maybe this is a novelty piece from gift shop etc hence why it is a numbered edition? 233/1000? Not sure if that makes sense but thank you for all your help. Do you think it is modern or vintage? |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Mar 03, 2020 The character 贾, also is the surname "Jia", so might also be the maker's name, Jia Zhou, though I couldn't find any relevant Google hits for it. I did find Jiazhou as the names of apparently small places in Hunan and Hubei province. While deferring to I. Nagy, the bottom half of the "gui" character (貴) in Guizhou is similar to jia/gu, but after comparing their seal-script forms at hanziyuan.net, I don't see enough overall similarities to think Guizhou it what's written in this teapot mark. |
