Subject:Tea Canister Pewter Hexagon - Age & Maker's Marks
Posted By: Charles Ackerman Sun, Feb 23, 2020 IP: 45.72.222.92

I would very much appreciate any assistance to enlighten me on this lovely relic.
a) the approximate age, & perhaps also,
b) identify or translate the maker's mark

Thank you so much for your input!

It is a container for wine.
Bottom mark,
廣泰 - Guangtai
Inscription,
夏賞緑荷池 - In summer I take a look at the Green Lotus Pond

Citation from a poem attributed to Ci Hao 崔顥 (704?-754)

Could be dated to the end of Qing era.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so much for taking the time to enlighten myself & others!

As there are 3 other side inscriptions, perhaps you would kindly comment on them when I post as I suspect the poem may very well encompass all 4 seasons.

Kind regards, Charles

Dear Charles,
You are right. The remaining 3 sides would surely encompass the missing 3 seasons.
Here are the missing lines (sides) from the poem;

春游芳草地 - In spring I go to the fragrant pasture to play
秋飲黄菊酒 - In autumn I drink yellow chrysanthemum wine
冬吟白雪詩 - In winter I recite poems of white snow

With regards,
I.Nagy

As per my last posting - here are the 3 remaining inscriptions for possible translation.

Many, many thanks!
