Subject:Qing (?) Pot with Lid

Hello again!
I've been offered the chance to acquire a Chinese ceramic pot with lid - as per the attached pics - and would really appreciate the opinion of you experts out there !
It's not costing mega bucks, but then again, it's not exactly cheap. I wouldn't like my festive spirit to be dampened by the discovery that I've just bought a piece of tat, designed to fool the less experienced (like myself!).
However, as no doubt many ripped-off collectors before me have said - 'It looks okay to me!'.

Hi Peter,
In my opinion this item is not old. Less than 30 years old.
It has a Qing period period reign mark (1644-1911).
The quality of the painting is very poorly executed. Almost dabbed on. Very stiff!
Also appears to be in part, transfer printed.
Always be very wary of thick black lines.
Decorative value only.

This item is easily identified from overlapping segments as transfer-decorated, therefore no older than the early 20th century and of no value as an authentic antique. It also has an apocryphal six-character seal-script stamp reading 'Made during the Tongzhi Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty", which does not increase its value beyond nominal decorative worth.

Below some views of period Tongzhi wares with marks, the first one stamped and the second handwritten.

Thank you both again, gentlemen, for taking the time to give your much-valued opinions.
When compared to the vibrancy of the subjects in Bill's pics, the two-dimensional 'flatness' of the painting becomes more obvious to me, as well as the lack of enthusiasm and fluidity in the work.
The same could be said of the Republican (????) Vase (Posted Dec 18th) with an image of a chicken - which for some strange reason always reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn !
Needless to say, I will not be proceding with the purchase of either piece offered to me.
Your comments regarding the black lines and transfer printing have been duly noted and will definately be of use to me in the near future - that's if I haven't given up all this Chinese porcelain business as a bad job and gone back to stamp collecting !!
