If you can't show us some hints through photos of the rest of your jar, could you at least tell us if you require a translation in Chinese, Japanese or Korean?

And yes, I am being intentionally snide, because some requests arrive from those fail to realize that this forum is meant to generate discussion, impart knowledge and develop a better appreciation of Asian Art and not just to be a free translation service.

Thank you,

Bill H.

My apologies to all. I am trying to figure out a couple of things. I previously listed photos and received a little information but not all. I am wondering if the writing on the lid is the same as the writing on the belly of the jar. Also there seems to have been someone who fervently erase part of the depiction. Would any one have any idea what was erased from the jar and why? Also was this just a tourist item and very common.

I was previously trying to investigate on my own and that is where my apology stems from. I am happy to share the adventure and gain more info. That is part of the fun for me.
