I recently bought this 18" platter from an estate sale, please help me read or identify the Japanese script or mark on the back of this platter. Thanks in advance

Your dish bears an apocryphal mark of "大明成化年製 - Dai Ming Seika nen Sei - Made during the Chenghua Reign of the Great Ming Dynasty". This reign, from 1465-1487, produced some well made and decorated porcelains, among which those in doucai (contending colors) patterns tend to set records when the come up for auction.

one more question do you think its an original item or is it a replica?

I'm unsure of what you mean by "original or replica". It certainly isn't Ming, being Japanese, and only famous potters, who'd usually sign their name, would ever make just one. As to whether it's old, I would speculate it might have been made as early as the Taisho period (1912-26) or subsequently, since the pattern lacks the density of older brocade patterns I've handled.

Thank you again, I am not expert and just needed more details.
when I check other websites I see many Chinese porcelain pieces has exact design but the stamps are slightly different, they marked them as replica of older ones which are very expensive. so I thought its fake. But since this is made and signed by maker it it is not meant to be fake but painted to depict the deigns of the Ming period. thank you again for clearing that for me. best regards
