Subject:Chinese scroll seal marks
Posted By: Vicky Tue, Oct 29, 2019 IP: 2a02:c7d:da5e:300:a9 Hi, This is an extremely long slender scroll featuring a long river scene with boats, trade and industry along the banks. It has writing all along the top and at each end with red seals. I have included images of both ends and a small section of the picture to give an idea of painting style. Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

Posted By: rat Wed, Oct 30, 2019 this is an embellished copy of a well-known Chinese painting attributed to Zhang Zeduan that is available cheaply on ebay etc. The original it goes by a number of English names, and this version tacks on the large calligraphic frontispiece and the long inscription across the top. The original is much higher quality and looks like this: https://scrolls.uchicago.edu/view-scroll/52 |
