Subject:Identifying Chinese Ceremonial Vase / Value

I received two matching vases as a gift from a reputable Chinese collector. Each of them are identical in color and size (about 3' tall). I've attached an image of one of the vases. I suspect that they are not exactly identical with design because it seems hand made/ drawn.

Chinese writing is on the back of each vase - pictured.

Out of respect for the gift-or, I have not asked the collector yet.

What is it made from? Is it lacquered wood or plastic?
