Subject:Japanese Cloisonne Vase Help w/Makers Mark
Posted By: finders9 Mon, Sep 23, 2019 IP: 108.56.140.241 I recently purchased this small Japanese cloisonne vase from a local estate. A collector of Asian arts was present as well and he identified it as Japanese and suggested a date of 1920 which, based on the style, seems correct to me. I have attempted to identify the maker's mark on line, without success though I did find an image (without text) of what appears to be the same mark. Would appreciate the assistance of the experts on this forum. Thanks |

Posted By: Guy Tue, Sep 24, 2019 IMO, this is the mark of Hayashi Hachizaemon (Nagoya, ca. 1850-1908) in use between 1882-1908. So, this vase must be somewhat earlier, late Meiji - early 20th century. |
