Subject:Help identify a netsuke carver signature

Hi, I have another little fellow with a signature that I'd like to identify. Does anybody recognize this signature or similar work? Any clues are appreciated! I'd love to know where to begin research on him. Thank you - Debra

I believe the base-mark says "古竜 - koryū". There was a famous Edo netsuke carver named Kama Koryu, but The forum's Japanese experts will need to assess whether there's a relationship. My speculation rests with a likely no.

I would say that this is a crudely executed 20th-century or later product. What surprises me is that it appears to be ivory.

Bill I have to tell you how much I appreciate you translating the signature for me. I don't recognize the lettering so had no place to start. I'm really happy to know what it says at least! And Google says it translates to ancient dragon. That is 100% more than what I had before you answered. Many thanks! Debbie
