Subject:Pease help identifiy this traditional Chinese artwork/artist

The machines say the artist name is Zhu Wei. Well it's not THAT Zhu Wei, unless he did it way before he adopted his present style. Maybe school days. Then it made its way to an estate sale in San Antonio, TX. Anything is possible. I'm also hearing Zhu Da. Sure, before he was the insane monk. 400 years to San Antonio. Please help. The back is stuck to the plain paper on which it was laid before its most recent, sideways, framing so I cannot photograph it. Thank you for your help

Totally unrelated to Zhu Da, and am not sure who Zhu Wei is, but to me the signature and seal read Zhu Zhuang 朱彤. There are a couple of artists with this name who pop up on Google, but they are different and paint in a different style from yours, which was made recently as decorative art and is based on Southern Song pictures done by court artists, such as:

Arg, your artist's given name is Tong, not Zhuang. I wonder why I wrote zhuang in the first place!

Thanks for your help. Zhu Wei is one of China's current top artists. He uses traditional methods and materials including mixing his own inks and washes but his work is anything but traditional.I find it bizarre while not wholly unattractive. Google him. Tell me if you agree.

Ah, got it. My taste is older school--I can see how he is applying some traditional methods to contemporary imagery in an interesting way but it's just not my thing.

That's pretty much how it strikes me. Interesting. Attractive in an intellectual manner. But I find no beauty in most of it, and where there is any it's not in the main focal point. Like on occasion he shows, obliquely, that he can. I read an interview with him. The feeling is he is doing what he has to do to have a following today, but it isn't what he would like to do and he fears the bird and flower form, which is what he would like to do, will die. He is gratified that one of his two assistants is studying the form. He is apparently about as wealthy as an artist in China can be, so I have to wonder if fame, and money, are not more valuable to him than the art why he doesn't use his position to try to revive the form he loves. But I don't pretend to understand the realities of producing art in mainland China. He may have no choice.
