Subject:Chinese Famille Rose Bowl
Posted By: William Thu, Sep 05, 2019 IP: 2601:1c0:6500:46f0:c

Greetings,

This group was most helpful identifying my fake jade and authentic Republican Plaque a few months ago, and I find myself in need of some assistance once again. I am studying, but still struggling with terminology, age ect... My father collected these things and although he is still with us, he has no recollection of where, when or what he paid. This bowl is somewhat unique compared to much of what I see out there for sale, but I am also not actively out in the Asian marketplace by any measure. We are mainly concerned with identifying items that have more age, value and integrity so that they can be properly handled, whether it be sold, treasured or used in our daily life. Today this bowl is the mystery. I ask, can you please tell help me understand it?

Any help is graciously appreciated.

This bowl with tobacco leaf motif and a faux six-character Qianlong mark and factory stamp looks like a Macao transfer-decorated product from the third quarter of the 20th century, circa 1970, according to gotheborg.com.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you for your expertise Bill. So it is strictly a vintage decorative item. Now I know!

Kind Regards

I agree with Bill H. Modern, interesting that it also has a 18-1 within a rectangular box mark.

Thanks for the feedback Mark. Do you feel this has any value or should it be donated?

Thanks,

William

Personally I believe your bowl has little value in my eyes. However, the market it always a mystery. I have seen similar ones to your selling for good money at auction.
If I owned this, that's what I would do. Depending on the day, who knows!
