Subject:Seeking info on vase bearing Yongzheng marks
Posted By: Peter Mon, Jul 15, 2019 IP: 115.64.191.229

Purchased from a dealer in Hong Kong in the early seventies. Has been sitting in mum and dads glass dresser since then. It is approximately 10 inches in height and bears the marks of Yongzheng on the base. It is made of what appears to be a fine quality, white porcelain which is light in weight. It also bears some unusual symbols which I believe are Tibetan in origin. I understand that genuine four-character Yongzheng marks are very rare, but common on fakes. Just wondering if anyone can provide any more information about the piece? Thanks in advance!

If it was purchased in the 70's it is likely from that time. Given the mark, color, design etc., that is likely correct or even later.

Definitely purchased in 1972 or 1973, from a reputable dealer I am told. However, I thought the decoration clumsy/ naïve compared to the precise, detailed decoration on Yongzheng pieces that appear at auction. Still, I prefer the style of dads vase. I am interested if anyone knows what the Tibetan symbols mean? I found the same symbols on a 'lanca character' stem cup from the Qianlong period. Style of decoration is pretty much identical as well. Big difference in quality and detail though.
