Subject:Fighting frogs on plates - I would like to learn more

Greetings,

I am would like to know more about 2 plates that I have, showing scenes of fighting frogs.

Can someone tell me more about these frogs? I have tried Google but was unable to find a good explanation.

I find them most charming.

The plates do have maker marks on the back, perhaps someone can help me with those?

I have no explanation about the fighting frogs, probably it was just fun for the maker to paint this.

The mark reads from right to left: Nihon (Nippon) 日本 - Yokohama 横濱 - Mura 村 Zo 造 = Japan - Yokohama - Made by Mura. Yokohama Kutani ware, date: 1900-1920.

There was a Mura painting Kutani ware for the Watano Shoten (Watano shop), but I don't know much more about this artist.

Humorous paintings depicting battles between two groups of frogs in spring and autumn. Frog battles are favorite themes of Japanese painters. They are based on the observation of frogs. In spring and autumn frogs and toads perform a kind of battle for mating.

On closer inspection, I believe that I.Nagy is right about the name Hayashi.

I find these frogs most amusing indeed.
