I believe this is a Japanese dish painted in the Chinese manner that the Weishaupt Collection catalog titled "The Great Fortune" (Das Grose Gluck) refers to as "Master of the Rocks" style. This name is applied to Chinese-pattern blue & white wares that Japanese artists began painting for export markets during the troubled transitional period between Ming and Qing rule, when Chinese Kilns were no longer able to meet the demand. I surmise that your dish shown here is no older than late 19th-early 20th century, but defer to Japanese experts on that point.

Best regards,

Bill H.
