Subject:I.D. Ming's Dynasty Ru Ware Vase Real or Fake?
Posted By: Dottie Moore Tue, Apr 07, 2009 IP: 76.200.157.112 I have a vase I believe to be Ru Ware. It has been damaged and put back together. Has a stamp on bottom. Weighs around 12 pounds 16" height. I would like to ID it and know it's value. Any information appreciated. |

Posted By: PyroManiac Wed, Apr 08, 2009 The mark is associated with the Song dynasty. Ru ware is not this color with a base that is very different. Unfortunately your vase is most likely a modern decorative interpretation. |

Posted By: tony brown Sun, Jun 25, 2017 Dear can anyone identify possible Ru ware from the song dynasty, I have 5 pieces altogether and the images uploaded are of a dish type vessel with a duck eggshell colour with kilns dot markings on top and underneath the dish as it could be a possibility it was made in one of 3 kilns 1)Ru Ware, 2)Ge Ware 3)Juan Ware any information would be grateful please see images |

Posted By: Gregory C. Brown Fri, May 31, 2019 Tony, please contact me directly via my email, as Ru ware is an extremely complex subject due to its extraordinary rarity. The fact is, it would be exceptionally rare for you to have 1 authentic ru ware piece, let alone 5. So, do not get your hopes up. However, the fact is, every once is a while an authentic piece is found, therefore it is always worth taking a potential find seriously. Look forward to talking about this more closely, Greg. |

Posted By: rat Fri, May 31, 2019 sorry, but this looks new/very recent and is unrelated to Ru, Ge, or Jun wares. This should be clear from a cursory look online at surviving examples of each type. |
