Looking for translation and age of this vase. Was it made for export?

Apocryphal Chenghua mark. Probably Guangxu period but from the look of it later.

Your double-gourd vase has an apocryphal 15th century Ming Dynasty base-mark of "Made during the Chenghua Reign" (Chenghua Nian Zhi - 成化年製). The foot-rim has a straw-color, which along with the Indian Lotus pattern sometimes might point to the vase being from a group of late Ming or early Qing reproductions of famed Chenghua porcelains. However, the straw effect can itself be reproduced, and the triple lines around the upper rim, containing an unusual bubble-like motif, strike me as curiously out-of-place.

Perhaps others in the forum can comment on this point, which makes me wonder if the vase might be a 20th century product of the Republic period (1912-49) or later, when many such fancy bottles were made to contain liquors and wines for public sale.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thank you for the responses; confirms my thought. It had a note taped to the bottom saying it was Qianlong but the painting looked crude to me. So it’s a Chinese Jim Beam bottle, eh?

That is my supposition, raised for possible further discussion.
